We Celebrate the Oscar Awards in Northeastern North Carolina

It is Oscar night! The world is watching and so are many of us in northeastern North Carolina. We watch and marvel at the art of creative expression on display and applaud every Oscar nominee and Oscar winner. We are reminded that it is not only the actor or actress who is celebrated, but it is the brilliantly creative men and women who work behind the scenes. They include set designers, costume designers, makeup and hair styling, cinematography, directing, producing, film editing, sound editing, writing and so on.

The power of play and acting is thrilling. Just as they transform on film and big screens, our lives as well, can be transformed.  It is because we applaud their work and their heart to bring us joy when we are sad, cause us to pause our day and just be swept away by inspiring, challenging and moving… movies. Through the arts, our kids open their imagination as first lady Michelle Obama stated just before announcing the best picture of the year.

Yes. We even dream big dreams here in the northeast like our kids walking the Red Carpet and accepting Oscars. Having a passion for the glitz and glamor of Hollywood – I say it can be any child’s dream no matter where they live!

So, congratulation’s Hollywood! Just when you least expect it, the Oscar goes to … from northeastern, North Carolina! But until then, some of the 2013 winners are:
